The Commons on Marice.  Experience the difference.

Letter from our Executive Director

Hello! I am delighted that you are looking at The Commons on Marice for yourself or a loved one. It is my job to ensure that all residents who live at The Commons on Marice have a quality of life that is exceptional. In addition to our standard resident services, we offer a rich variety of activities that focus on residents' abilities and promote a level of independence that is essential to their well-being. Too often seniors focus on what they feel they have lost, instead of looking at what they can still do. At The Commons on Marice, we give that back to the individual by adapting activities to meet various needs, wants and interests. We definitely like to have a little fun, too ... alright, we have a lot of FUN!

Many times over the years residents will stop me and say that they weren't doing "anything much" in their home. However, by participating in activities at The Commons, they have gained back some important socialization. Some have improved upon aspects of their physical, cognitive, social, or spiritual well-being that they felt they were losing.

The best part about my job is seeing individuals succeed and feel good about themselves and their circumstances. If you want to do something, we will do our best to make sure that you have an opportunity to do it!

We have opportunities and choices for everyone...

  • Activity Staff that is trained to develop, implement and facilitate a well-balanced activity program.
  • Intergenerational programming on a weekly basis that offers an opportunity for children and seniors to spend some time together.
  • Van transportation available to Eagan and Burnsville areas on a weekly basis. This van is fully accessible to meet the needs of all who wish to utilize its services.
  • Structured outings to many popular attractions in the metro area: Mystic Lake Casino,  Theatre Trips, Boat Cruises, Lunch Outings, Breakfast Outings, Fishing Trips, Concerts in the Park, etc...
  • Local chapter of the Red Hat Society on site (and do we ever have FUN!).
  • Veteran's Club with structured monthly meetings and special events, for veterans and their family members.

  • Innovative health and fitness programs for seniors, including: weight lifting, walking clubs, and senior yoga!
  • A full-time Chaplain on site who will support a variety of spiritual needs for many different denominations.
  • Hobby Shop available for residents who want to maintain independent leisure interests such as ceramics, stained glass, painting, etc.
  • Accessible equipment available to any resident who may need an adaptation to successfully complete an activity.
  • Large spectacular events on a quarterly basis: "Senior" Prom, "Senior" Olympics, Gala Dinners, Pancake Breakfasts, Pig Roasts, Resident/Family Boat Ride on the  St. Croix River, etc...

I look forward to meeting you!

Warmest regards,

Mary Yaeger
Executive Director
